A note from Will Schilling (Director of Music)
Dear parishioners of St. John's,
As we begin the solemn season of Lent, you will notice some changes in the music. First of all, we will be singing a Latin Mass setting for the duration of Lent. This longstanding tradition in the Church adds to the solemnity of the season, and I'd invite you to think of it as an addition to your existing Lenten observations. We will return to an English Mass setting come Easter.
Secondly, we will be transitioning to the Responsorial Psalm that is in the Pew Missal. This means that you will be able to follow along in the Pew Missal each Sunday and sing the response with the choir"
If you have any questions about these changes, please feel free to email me at [email protected]
In Christ,
Will Schilling
Greetings! I am very excited about my new position as Music Director. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Regular rehearsals are every Wednesday at 6:00 PM unless otherwise posted. Rehearsals will be about an hour long. During rehearsals we will be working on all the hymns, propers (response, alleluia, etc.) and will begin looking at the propers out of the Pew Missal as well.
NOTE: attendance at rehearsal is strongly recommended, but by no means mandatory. If you cannot make it, please still feel free to sing on Sunday!
I would love to extend an invitation to anyone with any music ability! If you are interested in being a part of the music ministry at St. John's, please fill out this short survey and I will be in touch.
If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out! You can email me at [email protected]
Thank you for your interest and investing your talents for the greater glory of God!
In Christ,
Will Schilling
