The Serra Club of North Central North Dakota’s 3rd annual Big Smoke that benefits seminarians and others seeking a religious vocation is Monday, July 8, at St. John’s. Club President Michael Ruelle said the format will be similar to previous years. One change: official judges will determine the winning team of competing meat smokers; also, there will be a people’s choice award. Tickets: $35 per person; $80 for a family that includes children age 16 and under. Bishop David Kagan will celebrate Mass at the event. This year’s Big Smoke is anticipated to feature eight teams. The popular event will include lots of other good food and tasty delicacies to whet the palette of all smoked-food lovers. Details will follow. ~ Grace Fisher
